Home of the Free, Because of the Brave

Updated: Jan 29, 2021

Today, we saluted those who serve us both presently, as well as honored those who have served us in the past. As we gathered around the table with our loved ones this evening, we remembered the fallen soldiers who bravely fought for us and for this country.

Westmoreland milk glass in the paneled grape pattern as well as a floral bouquet designed by McArdle's Florist in Greenwich was the inspiration for our tabletop.

With the inclement weather we've experienced, we decided to set the tabletop indoors for our Memorial Day celebration. We broke out the milk glass and pressed a vintage patriotic tablecloth and matching napkins.

The Westmoreland Milk Glass Goblets and Pitcher featured here, as well as the milk glass Fruit Plates, are all part of the vintage glass collection that was curated for patriotic summer celebrations. All items are available for sale in our on-line shop.

The table was set with the picnic we were to have outdoors in mind, but then decided to bring indoors, due to the chill in the air. Mini burgers were accompanied by various accompaniments such as sautéed onions, grilled mushrooms, sliced avocados and tomatoes, pickled vegetables, a secret sauce and French fries that were prepared in the air fryer.

Gluten Free toast was prepared for those with the dietary preference/restriction. Potato buns for those who preferred them. The secret was toasting and then buttering each side prior to assembling the burgers. For the recipe on the special sauce 'emulsion' that was made for this burger, scroll to the bottom of the page.

Freedom Plates, a third collaboration with FIMA Deruta.

For this Memorial Day, we introduced our third collaborative ceramics collection with famed ceramic maker, FIMA Deruta. While we continue to social distance from others, create moments of reflection at home, and make time to 'take a pause', we felt that a symbol of unity, strength and pride, is what made sense. Our flag-shaped heart was then born.

This is a simple collection, consisting of only four items - dessert plates and mugs with both red and blue rims. With each purchase, we will continue to donate 25% of all proceeds to COVID-19 relief efforts.

Curated Vintage Patriotic Glassware

In addition to our curated collection of vintage sourced glassware, we have enhanced our collection with new glassware by the Mosser Glass Company. If you have been following along, you know by now that our mission is to meld both vintage and new glass pieces together.

Pictured here are Vintage L.G. Wright Glass Goblets in the Strawberry & Currant pattern and in the cobalt color.

Pictured here is new glass by the Mosser Glass Company in both the cobalt and red colors. These 10" cake stands are available in our on-line shop for the upcoming patriotic holidays.

This heirloom 'chicken on a basket' is another example of some of the finer glass pieces available in the vintage collection.

We have created a new gallery. We hope that you will enjoy exploring it and that you will find inspiration to set your own patriotic table in this latest collection of ours. We look forward to celebrating along with you all summer long. Stay well, friends!
